Hello,
Welcome to our home website; our Condorosa if you will. I thought it'd be a good idea to have something for our noble viewers to read. I know I get a bit bugged if there's nothing new to keep me coming back to the site. So, I figured, what the hell, I'd start writing a little column when I feel the urge to do so.
Now that we've got the preliminaries out of the way, here's a few verbal tidbits for your reading pleasure.
The new CD, tentatively entitled "Wait For It" is fully mastered and sounds pretty awesome, if I may say so myself. The mastering was done by Bob "Big Bottom" Lansner at Technovoice, and it was produced by Steve Refling. Big thanks to Steve for hanging with the project from start to finish. If you want a get a taste of the disc, you can hear "Don't Want A Girl Who's Been With Jack" on WXXE's Internet feed from Syracuse. Carl and Dana have been spinning the tune regularly on their "Rock and Roll Radio" show. "Spare Time" was released on the International Pop Overthrow #7 disc, and alternate version of "Don't Talk About Love" appeared on the IPO #8 comp. Those tracks will be the only ones available to listen to until our CD comes out. Of course, if you come to one of our shows, there's a good chance you'll hear several of the other songs in a live setting.
Speaking of live shows, we just finished performing two IPO shows in Los Angeles and San Francisco, then played the very cool Roller derby girls convention (Rollercon) in Las Vegas, finally finishing up with a gig in the lovely city of Sierra Madre, California.
A new Condor was added just in time to play these shows, and his name is "east coast" Billy Close. His guitar playing and vocals add a lot of power and depth to the band. A native Bostonian, Bill played with punk stalwarts The Freeze, legendary popsters The Outlets, and even did a bit of drumming and bass playing in the early Dropkick Murphys demos. As talented as he is funny, make sure to say "hello" to him at one of our future gigs...especially if you're a pretty girl.
He joined us after our former bass player Mark left for new adventures in Amsterdam. He seems to enjoy the change, and we all wish him the best. Dirk has switched back to bass, after playing guitar with us for several years. So, as we stand, the Condors are one energetic and happy quartet willing to play as much as possible in advance of the new disc. What else could you ask for, huh?
Well, you could ask about any other changes in Camp Condor, and I'd tell you that Jay and Zissy have become first time parents with a beautiful baby girl. Congrats to the lucky power trio! Dirk's got three of his own, so Jay's a bit of a rookie. The conversations during rehearsal have are certainly different from they used to be!
Me? Well, Ann and I finally tied the proverbial knot last November, and we've been running ever since. Marriage? Us? Who'd of thunk it?
Anyway, I just wanted to fill you in on our doings here in Condor land, and thanks for visiting our little site. Keep your ears peeled for the aforementioned songs, and write back and say "hi." We love the attention!
Bye, for now.
Patrick D. (er...Pooch to some of you)
